Why travel in spring
Spanish spring is a natural spectacle: from the blossoming of almond trees in Andalusia (February-March) to the cherry trees of the Jerte Valley (April), through the Extremaduran meadows and lavender fields in Castile. It's the ideal season for hiking, photography and traditional festivals.
What to expect by region
- South (Andalusia, Murcia): Mild temperatures from March. Spectacular Easter Week. Poppy and sunflower fields.
- Centre (Castile, Extremadura): Green meadows, storks, Castilian Easter Week. April-May ideal.
- North (Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria): Explosive landscape but rainy. May the most stable month.
- Mediterranean: Beaches without crowds, orchards in bloom, perfect temperatures.
Tip: book accommodation in advance for Easter Week and May bank holidays. Small villages fill up with city escapes.
